A European industrial group’s powder handling system had long been plagued by valve wear. The original stainless steel ball valves began leaking on average every two to three months, resulting in more than 12 unplanned shutdowns per year. After conducting a diagnostic assessment, Yingxuan Valves’ technical team implemented a replacement solution using full-bore ceramic ball valves. By leveraging high-hardness ceramic seals, full-bore flow paths, and an eccentric shear structure, they resolved issues related to wear, powder buildup, and valve jamming. Following a four-month pilot program and full-plant rollout, valve maintenance intervals were extended from 2.5 months to over 14 months, valve-related downtime was reduced by 60%, and annual maintenance costs were cut by approximately 55%. This article highlights Yingxuan’s capabilities in product selection and delivery for powder handling applications, drawing on its ceramic valve technology, German technical support, international certifications, and experience in private-label manufacturing.

The industrial group’s powder conveying lines used stainless steel ball valves. Due to the high hardness of the medium, the valve seats were quickly eroded by the powder, leading to leaks—or even seizure—after just two to three months of operation. Frequent shutdowns resulted in losses related to spare parts, labor, and production capacity.

The Yingxuan team’s analysis revealed that the hardness of the powder far exceeded that of the stainless steel seats; once the powder entered the gap between the ball and the seat, it compacted, increasing the torque required to open and close the valve; furthermore, dead spots in the flow path of conventional ball valves exacerbated wear and powder buildup. Conventional metal ball valves were unable to fundamentally resolve this issue.

Yingxuan recommends a full-bore ceramic ball valve. The ball is made of zirconia ceramic, while the seat and lining are made of alumina ceramic, both of which offer high hardness and excellent wear resistance. The full-bore design ensures that powder passes through without any reduction in diameter or dead corners; the eccentric shear seal cuts off particles during closure, preventing them from being crushed or embedded. The solution is equipped with a pneumatic actuator, solenoid valve, limit switches, and other components to ensure the entire valve system
