A screw conveyor is a common type of material handling equipment; its operating principle is based on the continuous conveyance of material through the movement of the screw blades.
1. Material Conveyance Process: The drive unit provides power, which is transmitted via a coupling to the screw shaft, causing the screw blades to rotate around the bearings. The material moves forward along the base of the screw conveyor due to friction with the housing. As material continuously enters, the subsequent material generates a certain amount of thrust, pushing the material in front of it forward;
2. Screw Conveyor Construction: It mainly consists of the screw body, inlet, outlet, bearings, and drive system. Material enters the screw conveyor through the inlet and moves forward along the rotating screw blades. When the material reaches the end, it is discharged through the outlet;
3. Interaction between the material and the screw blades: The material’s own weight and the frictional resistance exerted by the screw conveyor housing on the material are the two primary forces driving the material forward.
